National Manufacturing Day 2025
Thursday 25 September, manufacturers across the UK opened their doors to schools, colleges, families, businesses, and communities - showcasing the people, skills, and innovation that power this sector. From factory tours to live demos, it’s a celebration of everything that makes UK manufacturing world-class, while inspiring the next generation to join.
Local business Actisense based in Poole, kindly opened their doors to BCP Council Michelle Dempster, Economic Development Officer and Dorset Engineering and Manufacturing Cluster representative, and Councillor Rich Herrett, Portfolio holder for Destination, Leisure & Commercial Operations.
Michele Whitehurst, Managing Director of Actisense commented ““We were delighted to host Cllr Rich Herrett and Michelle Dempster from the DEMC team at Actisense for National Manufacturing Day. It was a proud moment for our team to share the story of our growth—from modest beginnings to nearly three decades of innovation in marine electronics. We're excited about the future and proud to be expanding right here in our local conurbation, with the continued support of our community.”
Councillor Rich Herrett, also commented to say that “It was great to see one of our global businesses that operate from the Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole council area for world manufacturing day, I’m regularly amazed that we see such reach and scale from businesses that are tucked away in the corners of our area”.
Following the overwhelming success of three previous National Manufacturing Days in 2022, 2023 and 2024, National Manufacturing Day will be held each year on the last Thursday in September.
