Shape Dorset’s Future: Inspire the Next Generation
An innovative new project is being delivered by Dorset Chamber – funded by The Careers & Enterprise Company, Dorset Careers Hub and in partnership with Dorset Council. Our aim is to introduce younger people to different types of employment, before the time comes to choose subjects, or apply for work experience placements.
We are calling on all Dorset businesses to inspire and introduce young people aged 11-14 to career options and professions, by offering opportunities to explore the world of work.
This is your chance to ignite career aspirations and bridge the gap between education and employment. Work Explore is new, flexible and adaptable to suit the needs of your business – and there are lots of ways to collaborate.
Initially, we will be working with 20 schools, seeking Dorset-based businesses to offer
- Group Visits:Welcome pupils and their teachers for a workplace tour
- Taster Days:Provide hands-on experiences for individual students (with our support in planning).
- Virtual Visits: Showcase your industry online
- Online Talk or Demo: Share your industry expertise with a short presentation
- Project or Activity: Giving practical skills development
Your Support Will Make a Difference to Someone’s Future
Your participation and encouragement will offer local young people valuable insights on career paths and the chance to develop new skills and experiences they won’t get anywhere else. It will also provide an opportunity to support those without networks for connections, due to location or circumstance.
This initiative is a BRAND-NEW direct investment in the future of Dorset’s economy. You may even meet your future team members!
