Looking for Industry External Panel Members for Programmes Review (29th-30th May) - (Face to Face and Online)

29/05/2024 to 30/05/2024

Every 5 to 6 years our programmes at Bournemouth University undergo a programme review. This is then followed by professional accreditation. Programmes in the Department of Design and Engineering at Bournemouth University are having the review in May/June 2024 and then the accreditation in February 2025.

We need industry external panel members for the following events:

29 May 2024 – Flexible Learning Review @ BPC (this panel will meet locally face-to-face)

  • Programmes:
    • HNC/FdEng Engineering (Electronic Design, Manufacturing Management, Marine Technologies, Mechanical Design)
    • BEng (Hons) Engineering (Engineering, Electronic Design, Manufacturing Management, Mechanical Design)
    • MEng (Hons) Engineering
  • We need panel members ideally with experience in:
    • Engineering;
    • Flexible (Blended) Learning Delivery;
    • Apprenticeships (ideally);
    • These panel members can be the same for the next day (see below).

30 May 2024 – Engineering Review @BU (this panel will meet online on Teams)

  • Programmes:
    • BSc Design Engineering
    • BEng/MEng Mechanical Engineering
    • BEng/MEng Mechatronics and Robotics
    • MSc Mechanical Engineering Design
  • We need panel members with experience in:
    • Engineering;
    • Post-graduate taught programmes;
    • These panel members can be the same from the previous day (see above)

The role is going to require the industry external to be available for a day. The panel will be looking into our Unit Specs, Programme Specs and resources, and be able to provide insights and feedback into our programmes development proposal.

It is important to note that most of our programmes are accredited by either the IED and/or the IMechE, therefore the programmes have been designed to meet the exemplifying benchmarks of AHEP4, which are the professional standards defined by the Engineering Council UK.

We obviously cover any costs incurred (if travelling locally) and there is a fee of £150.

Besides the above there is no specific criteria we are looking at. The only exceptions are that nominees should not have had any close relationship with Bournemouth University or Bournemouth and Poole College and their partners, other than a one-off engagement for a PGR examination, normally within the last five years, such as teaching (other than guest lectures), external examining, membership of industry liaison panels, supervising PhD students, etc.

If you can please circulate these with some of your local contacts in industry, that would be greatly appreciated.
