Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) and Innovate UK are recruiting up to 15 innovative SMEs in the electric vehicle sector to participate in an innovation visit to Oslo.
Successful applicants will benefit from a structured programme of support consisting of a preparation webinar in the UK, a 3-day tailored programme of activities in Norway, including participation at the Nordic EV Summit and B2B Matchmaking with the aim of initiating and building research, technology and innovation partnerships and developing ongoing commercial project ideas. Delegates will also benefit from post-visit 1-2-1 bespoke follow up support from an EEN Adviser to help build relationships with global partners and exploit international funding and commercial opportunities.

Almost 60% of cars sold in Norway in 2019 were electric powered and this number is growing rapidly, making it by far the most successful country in achieving market penetration. The Norwegian government is committed to ending the sale of conventional vehicles by 2025 and offers attractive long term incentives. A large share of Norway’s domestic energy comes from renewable sources, making the switch to electric vehicles a much greener option.

This two-day conference attracts over 1000 international delegates and showcased 80 influential speakers from the EV sector in 2019. It offers the opportunity to meet and network with representatives from the global EV industry, policy makers, research communities and usergroups. This year the conference will have the key themes of global EV policy, energy of tomorrow, battery technology and mass production.

This programme will bring together innovative UK SMEs looking to grow and scale globally and will enable the businesses to build collaborations and partnerships and explore innovation opportunities. With the current R&D innovation strategy focusing greater investment into SMEs, international collaboration and international funding opportunities such as Horizon 2020 this is a market which offers significant opportunity for innovative UK SMEs developing partnerships and cutting edge technologies.

Participants will work with a designated EEN adviser and receive tailored support through a three phased programme –

  • Getting ready for the visit: Briefing webinar providing practical advice and information on the programme, logistics and key contacts.
  • Visiting the market: A 3 day-programme including participation in the B2B Matchmaking event at the Nordic EV Summit with opportunities to meet global collaboration partners and develop project ideas through strategic and targeted sessions with B2B meetings.
  • Exploiting the opportunity: Post visit follow up and tailored support with a designated EEN adviser to develop a market exploitation strategy.
