Manufacturing Focus With MTC And NexGworx- Digital Transformation And 5G

06/10/2021 to 06/10/2021

C2S Manufacturing Focus Online Digital Transformation and 5G

Wednesday 6th October 2021 10.00am – 11.00am

Working with the MTC and nexGworx we are delighted to extend this invitation to you and your colleagues to join us for the next Manufacturing & Engineering Focus.

Join us for our series of Manufacturing Focus events with the MTC in support of the Manufacturing Sector.

We are working together to support the manufacturing and engineering sector through these troubled times. We have created online events to help answer many of the questions manufacturers have today – How do I move my business forward successfully? What does the future hold for my business? Join us to get answers to your questions and expert advice on how to deal with the ‘New Norm and Digital Transformation’

The MTC are one of only a few organisations that have funding available to support manufacturers and can provide technical and digital support to any project undertaking.

Introduction From the MTC:

Speaker: Tim Andrews, Senior Digital Transformation Advisor

“The factories of the future are embracing 5G – are you?

A recent study found that 74% of manufacturing leaders are considering upgrading their communications networks by 2022. It’s clear that 5G – with its private network capability and designed-in security allowing for low latency and high bandwidth – has a leading role to play, and projects are already underway to explore how this ground-breaking technology can benefit the manufacturing industry.

West Midlands 5G (WM5G) and nexGworx are working with partners (BT, The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) near Coventry and A E Aerospace), undertaking a range of use cases to demonstrate how 5G can accelerate productivity in manufacturing environments.

Also speaking on the day will be nexGworx, they evolved out of one of the first UK 5G testbeds – Worcestershire 5G – and provides a Testbed as a Service offer to help companies identify, develop and test IIoT use cases, and ultimately adopt 5G-driven smart technologies. The team behind the installation of the first private 5G network at a UK manufacturer, their work has demonstrated how productivity improvements of up to 2% can be achieved by adopting connected technologies – the equivalent of £2.6bn for UK manufacturing.

WM5G and its partners are keen to share the results and learnings from the use case trials to help inform British manufacturing to accelerate productivity and efficiency, demonstrating how 5G can support manufacturing operations in the UK and beyond.

What will you take away on the day:

This session will provide:

  • an overview of what 5G is (not just a better 4G!) – to raise awareness and demonstrate the benefits
  • information on why 5G is a key enabler for manufacturing’s transition to Industry 4.0; look at examples of where 5G has been used and the benefits it has already and will deliver in the future
  • details of 5G and the opportunity with the MTC programme
  • What we have learnt to-date – sharing our experiences”
